Chaitra Navratri 2026 (19–27 March) and Sharad Navratri 2026 (11–20 October) are the busiest periods at Vaishno Devi. The Shrine Board enacts special arrangements during these nine nights. Here is what changes day by day.

  • Holy Cave remains open near-continuously; aarti closure shortens to 30–40 minutes.
  • Daily yatra cap may be revised upward; expect 80,000+ pilgrims on Ashtami and Navami.
  • Aarti slips are pre-allocated via an online ballot.
  • Special Maha Aarti held on Ashtami evening with classical singers.
  • Free langar runs 24×7 with kheer, puri-halwa, fruits.

How to Plan Your Navratri Yatra

  • Book Yatra Slip + helicopter at least 30 days in advance.
  • Book accommodation 45 days ahead — Katra hotels jump 50–80% in price.
  • Avoid Ashtami/Navami if claustrophobic — Bhawan plaza gets very crowded.
  • Aim for Day 2–4 if you want serenity but Navratri vibe.
